Our Functions Package caters for all tastes and all budgets. From an informal get together with friends and family through to a major corporate launch, Monkey Bar Balmain has the ability to provide the most memorable events.
The Hotel has a variety of function areas available for hire. Each room is fitted with the latest audio visual equipment allowing music, personalised visual presentations or corporate displays. Highly regarded as one of Sydney’s social focal points, The Balmain Monkey Bar is set to a backdrop of rich flavours, a comfortable atmosphere, lively entertainment & a service level second to none. We have a range of available areas to hire exclusively for your event. Please contact our Functions Manager to discuss your requirements and we will offer the most suitable room based on your needs and numbers. Room hire charges and/or minimum spend requirements may apply.
Beverages
- Bar Tab
Beverages can be charged to a bar tab – simply select what you would like to be made available to your guests. You can choose a set cut off limit or updates are available on the night. Once the amount is reached guests can pay their own way.
- Guests to Purchase Own Drinks
Your guests can purchase their own drinks from the bar.
- Beverage Pack
A variety of beverage packs are available upon request.
Extras
- Security Guards/Function Hosts
Monkey Bar Balmain offers exclusive security guards and/or door hosts for each private function. They can be used to man the door, check off names of your guests or simply greet your guests as they arrive. Both guards and hosts are charged at $45/hour for a 3 hour minimum time period.
- Minors
A minor is defined by law as any person under the age of 18 years of age. This definition extends to babies and infants. Minors are permitted into the Function areas until 9pm when they are accompanied by a Responsible Adult. Monkey Bar must also be told 5 days in advance when final numbers are confirmed if any minors will be attending the function.
- Decorations/Deliveries
You may add your own special touch to your function by bringing your own decorations but the details of any decorations must be provided to the Functions Manager. Monkey Bar must be notified in advance of any of any deliveries to be made. All items must be marked with the name, date and time of the function along with the number of items being delivered.

Organising and catering for any sized group is a specialty at the Monkey Bar. We have a fully equipped function room available with catering to suit any event.
Including a cocktail lounge, our upstairs room offers a relaxed and cozy venue for groups of up to 70 people.
A mixture of contemporary decor and soft lighting provide the perfect atmosphere for birthdays, Christmas parties, corporate conferences, presentations or gatherings, 21st's, anniversaries, or to have a party with friends for no reason.
Combining both indoor and outdoor sections this room is perfect for formal functions as well, such as weddings and large corporate dinners.

Room hire fee is $330.00 on Saturdays and only $220.00 on other days/nights. There is an extra charge of $70.00 if you also require the balcony area.

- all areas of Balmain Monkey Bar are now non smoking and fully air conditioned
- create your own set menu from the attached sit down menu at a cost of $50 for 2 courses or $60 for 3 courses
- if you prefer the casual comfort of the bar all menus are available – tapas &, bar menu (which are available all day) and the restaurant menu (which is available during lunch & dinner service times)
private rooms
- each private room has its own bar and media equipment (overhead projector, dvd, video & cd player). You can also bring in your laptop, i-pod or mp3 to create your own special event
- when booking your particular space you need to enquire whether it is OK to have a dj or band, or if it is limited to cds etc
- in each function room there are several beers on tap, a range of bottled beers and spirits, together with the house wines – christopher scott chardonnay or semillon/sauvignon blanc, shiraz/cabernet and wolf blass bilyara sparkling brut all priced at $25 a bottle
- just let us know 2 weeks in advance if you require a greater wine selection – wine list attached
- you can arrange to run a bar tab for either the whole or part of the evening
- the hotel reserves the right to supply all food and beverages – birthday cakes excluded
- cake service (which includes plates and napkins) is optional
- payment for any food and beverages ordered is required by cash or credit card on the evening of your function
- each private space has individual licence restrictions, so please enquire about the closing time applicable to your room as it varies from 12 midnight to 2am
- room hire fee is $300 on saturday nights and $200 every other night and is not refundable if you cancel and we are unable to secure another function
- an intimate balcony, attached to the large function room upstairs, is also available for a fee of $75
- any function is only CONFIRMED when the room hire fee is paid
- due to the number of function enquiries we receive, we are only able to hold the room for 1 week from the date of your enquiry without PAID CONFIRMATION
- minors are welcome (except in the tab/gaming area) SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS
